Research / Special Projects
Nocona Business Archives:
The Museum is in the process of putting together records on all historic business locations within the city! We are partnering with the Nocona Chronicles Project, so please help us add more businesses to the map and out records! noconachronicles.com
Obituary Archives:
The Museum has copies of most of the County's newspaper obituaries dating back to the 1960s, with some even older!
Family History Files:
The Museum is compiling family histories for future generations. Bring us any information, photos, family trees, etc that we can copy or scan for our permanent records. We will give them back to you!
Oral History Project:
We have CDs and DVDs available for sale in our Gift Shop of our area citizens telling their stories about growing up in Montague County. Let us know if you have someone in your family you would like to recommend to be recorded for this project.
Tales 'N' Trails Research Library:
We have an extensive library of books, periodicals, pamphlets, photographs, posters and other items available for research and study - including an extensive library on boot making from the John Glaze Collection. We even are compiling old records to form a map of where all the old Nocona businesses were located!
Nocona History Tour / Montague Virtual Tours:
The Nocona Chamber of Commerce has produced a driving tour of the historic homes and businesses of Nocona. A souvenir picture book of the tour is available for sale in the Museum gift shop. In addition, periodically throughout the year the Montague County Historical Commission sponsors a bus tour or a talking tombstone tour of a cemetery, highlighting areas of historic interest across the county.
There also are two separate Virtual Tours for the County - one sponsored by TNT on the Museum grounds, and one sponsored by the Montague County Historical Commission at various points of interest in the County. Download the Otocast app and enjoy the tours!
