The Justin Building - 100 Clay Street

In the late 1800s, the railroads bypassed Spanish Fort in favor of Nocona. H.J. "Daddy Joe" Justin followed the railroad and relocated here. This building served as the H.J. Justin & Sons Boot Company until the mid-1920s, when the company again relocated - this time to Fort Worth - and became Justin Boot Company. This building was then used as the headquarters for the Justin Leather Goods Company, which started out creating small items, like key fobs, using scraps from the Justin Boot Company's manufacturing process. It grew to make more substantial leather products, including purses and wallets.  After Justin Leather Goods shut down in the mid-1980s, the building stood vacant for decades until the City of Nocona and a group of like-minded citizens repurposed the building for the event venue it is today.
